Although it was very quiet opposite by The Smugglers, the visit by the Harbour Master to us to let us know that the massive container ship moored behind us was moving early tomorrow morning and we were anchored over his anchor chain, was enough to convince us to move up the River Fal further and find a new anchorage. So, here we now are at Church Creek. Not a ripple on the water, herons walking along the river banks on both sides, swans coming right up to the boat for feeding, and a great view of the hillsides all around. We launched the dinghy this evening and headed off up Church Creek itself, somewhat shallow for Quasar IV at only 8 inches of water at one point, oars only! More herons, egrets, swans, and a few curlews on this trip. You could stay here for weeks just looking at all the different varieties of wildlife as the tide comes in and goes out. In our case though, we need to depart on Sunday at the latest or we'll never get to Portsmouth and Hayling Island!
