Breakfast in Spain, Lunch in the Oggin, Dinner in Portugal!

Have boat, will travel....Having returned from the UK on Tuesday, re-stocked Quasar IV with goodies (mainly food, water and fuel), and a final quiet evening out in the beautiful town of Baiona, about 15 miles north of the border with Portugal, it was time to depart Spain to get further south, or better still, to get closer to Corfu. It was great seeing three bottle-nosed dolphins in the marina this morning which looked like they were checking the place out for a future stop over! Alas not I suspect. Baiona disappeared slowly into the low-level mist, so common along this part of the coast. What was strange was seeing wind farms poking out through clouds as we passed along the coast appearing as if they had been installed on clouds with no land visible below. Not much in the way of sea like seen today, except seagulls of course which follow boats like magnets in the off chance of getting a few fish for free I suspect. No such luck from Q4 I'm afraid - any decent fish we catch go straight into the frying pan and get rapidly consumed. That said, we haven't actually caught any fish yet...However, we are fast approaching mackeral country so I suspect it will soon be on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner as I recall it was on our last trip along this coast in 2008! Anyway, here we now are in Viana do Castelo, a very picturesque Portuguese town where we are stopping two nights so that we can enjoy some of the local sights and some great walking. Photos will be a bit scarce over the next week or so as we have no internet connection again, only the radio link from the boat which is super slow but still lets me update our position tracker and the actual blog. We will be whistling down the Portuguese Atlantic coast rather rapidly as we still have over 1,700 Nm to sail before reaching Corfu so time is not in our favour at the moment. A few photos will be added onto the blog as and when time or internet connection allows. In the meantime, we'll enjoy the peace of living in the past without the internet. There again, that means that we may have to listen to Tony playing his guitar....
