The inclement weather over the past 3 days has given us a good opportunity to finish the many small jobs we needed to do before heading out into the ocean. The one big one we have and will not achieve is the repair of the fridge which died 2 days ago. So, no cold beer on arrival in Spain next week - tragedy! More to the point, no fridge for the foreseeable future as at 1000 pounds to repair/replace it, no chance! We'll make do with blocks of ice and frozen food as our predecessors did for many years. We set off from Kingswear, opposite Dartmouth, at 5-30 am this morning and are now sitting in Plymouth Yacht Haven. The maritime definition of FOG is visibility less than 1000 metres; we are not sure what the definition is for visibility less than 50 metres, but we were in it this morning! Once again, the radar came into its own. We caught a glimpse of Bigbury on Sea and Burgh Island through the heavy mist and it looks just the same as it did about 30 years ago when I last went there on holiday with mum and dad and the family. So, for the remaining part of the day, we will be checking over the boat for a final time, preparing storm sails for deployment if required, and enjoying a walk around Plymouth. Tomorrow's plan is to do nothing to the boat, enjoy our final day in the UK for some time, and get an early night; no chance!
