Having finally left Falmouth yesterday at 6-30 am, we set sail for Spain. A day later, here we are in the middle of nowhere! We have seen no ships, dolphins, whales, or people for the last 12 hours, although this may have been to do with the heavy fog that we have been passing through. Luckily, the radar is proving exceptionally useful on this account, particularly when the visibility dropped to about 100 metres last night for a while, This morning, it is totally overcast, reasonably warm, and the sea is fairly calm. No nasty winds are forecast so we are all happy. Sea sickness has struck most of us, particularly Tracey, who is on deck trying to recover at the moment. It takes a few days to get used to the 'motion of the ocean'. By then, we'll be in Spain and have to get used to being on land again which generates a sort of 'land sickness'. We are due to cross the Continental Shelf in about 12 hours time and are not expecting any big surprises, just a big swell on the water as the depth plummets from 300m to 4000m over a 10 mile stretch of water. It would also be great if the sun would come out! We occasionally have an extra passenger of a dove that keeps on landing for a rest then disappearing off for a while, but that's about it. And finally, the moon and stars out here are amazing; the Milky Way looks like it has been spray-painted onto the sky. QUite incredible.
