After 3 days on anchor, we have now moved the boat into Cascais Marina which is located in an excellent spot about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. This makes it much easier exploring town, getting provisions, and gives us some more luxury on the boat for a while as we can connect to mains electricity and water, so the water heater and showers on board can be used. We have met up with some boats again here that we have met on route from Falmouth and it has been good to chat to see where everyone has been exploring. We are currently moored up next to a million pound catamaran being delivered from France to the USA and one of the canadian crew, Ron, has visited us to swop some paperbacks, a process which is always ongoing on boats to prevent the book collection from going stale. Today, we are off to Sintra, just to the north of Cascais, by bus, to see the unusual architectural styles that the town is famous for, then off to Lisbon tomorrow by Metro train (half an hour every 15 mins) for the day to see how the place has changed over the past 20 years since I last visited! We are also catching up with an old RAF collegue of mine this evening for a meal in a local restaurant, to no doubt catch up and discuss property prices in Portugal.....
