The gentle sail to Marigot Bay, all of about 9 miles, was uneventful with the exception of the most horrendous downpour just as we were about to enter Marigot Bay. The visibility was so bad that we had to stop the boat about 500 metres from the entrance as we could only just see the bow of the boat through the heavy rain. Still, as usual, this soon blew over and we were slowly motoring into Marigot Bay, famous for being the location for the 1967 original version of Dr Dolittle. The location remains spectacular and is without any doubt the most impressive anchorage we have ever stayed in. Palm trees everywhere, mangrove trees, locals selling bananas from their tiny homemade boats, and all very pleasant local people to chat to. The area has been built up since Dr Dolittle was filmed here, but it still has a beauty that must not be missed when sailing in this area of the world. We sat on the boat all afternoon just looking at the view! We treated ourselves to dinner ashore tonight in Chateau Mygos, a local restaurant which has a sushi and steak special menu on tonight; excellent food and service, highly recommended. This bay is too stunning to stop just one night, so we are booked in for two before heading back to Rodney Bay again. I suspect we may be back here within a few weeks before heading south towards the Grenadines.
