St Anne's is a fantastic anchorage, but after 3 days bouncing around in 25 to 30 knots of wind, with no access to shore via the dinghy, we decided to move the boat about 4 miles north east closer towards the town of Marin. Having arrived at about 1130 am, we were somewhat surprised to find that the wind had dropped very little, if any at all, and it is still blowing a Force 7. A short trip in the dinghy ashore resulted in bailing required and a 20 minute drying out session ashore having been engulfed by numerous waves on route. And that was with just me in the dinghy on my own; Tracey took the sensible option and stayed on the boat! The trip would have been worth the effort it had not turned out to be a national holiday in Martinique with everywhere closed! The stop here in Marin is useful and will give us a chance to see the old town which we missed last time we were here. It also will allow us to pick up a few spares we need for the engine and outboard that we could not get in Saint Lucia, along with some technical assistance on our radar which gave up the ghost several days out from Saint Lucia during the Atlantic crossing. The diagnosis at the moment is bad having done some intricate fault finding with the 'techie's guide' we have on board, and the replacement item we need is no longer manufactured and has no substitute. Still, we'll wait and see. Anyway, the good news is that the sun is out, and we are still afloat and dry! We are about to head off into town again; surely there will not be two national holidays in succession.....
