18/07/2009, Near Limoges, France
Having been rained upon intensely in High Wycombe, a return to Bexleyheath for a week of relaxing, then off to France to see Andy, Becka and Ella, and bring my long lost car back from France to England for selling. A short flight from Stansted to Limoges of about 1 hr 15 mins, and we were there - air travel has it's benefits! Alas, it appeared that we also took the bad weather with us and the nexxt 4 days saw thunder, lightening, and very heavy rain, however, that did not stop us from enjoying ourselves in company. Keeping warm in the evening over the BBQ, and sorting out 'life, the universe, and everything' over several fine bottles of red wine until 3am. Ella is growing up rapidly and it was great to get involved with her chatter whilst building models from Play Doh (that's Tracey and I playing with the Play Doh....). Our final day visiting the beach was great fun and time passed all too quickly before jumping in the car, driving 500 miles north to Dunkerque, ferrying to Dover, and returning to Bexleyheath again, just in time for the MoT test the following morning. Get the credit card at the ready...!

15/07/2009, High Wycombe, Bucks
Having had a very relaxing couple of weeks at mum's in Bexleyheath, our next 'mission' was to feed and supervise rabbit 'Daisy' and two goldfish (no names...) for two weeks while our friends Chris and Helene, and their family, disappeared away on holiday to warmer climes. Time certainly flew by here; a great BBQ on the first weekend, an evening meal with Mike and Carol later in the week, an excellent curry last Wednesday with Mark, Karen, Kim and Aileen who we met through our Atlantic crossing last year, then throw in a couple of home-cooked roast Sunday dinners, some Sky Movies in High Definition (brilliant!), and That Was The Two Weeks That Were (TWTTWTW!). Gone, just like that. Rabbit and goldfish still alive, we're back at mum's tonight in Bexleyheath, then off again tomorrow morning at 5am to Stanstead Airport heading for Limoges in France to see Andy, Becka and Ella for a few days before driving the Mazda back to UK. So, if you are in the market for a British Racing Green, Mazda MX-5 convertible to make the most of this year's summer in Britain, call me!

22/06/2009, Bexleyheath, Kent
After a 10 hour flight to Gatwick, via Antigua, we have arrived in the familiar surroundings of Bexleyheath where I spent the first 18 years of my life. Back at mum's with great cooking, comfy settees and...a TV to catch up on a few episodes of CSI and NCIS! However, far more interesting was the 2 hour walk on Saturday afternoon around London's Pall Mall and St James's area, hosted by 'Alan' (with the white suit and green carnation...) to learn about, and see, the places that the infamous Cold War Cambridge Five Spy Ring, (Burgess, Maclean, Philby, Blunt, and Cairncross) operated from for so many years before being caught. An excellent tour arranged by London Walks (www.walks.com) and highly recommended by us. Sunday was spent at Eltham Palace remembering Henry VIII, watching jousting, falconry (some from horseback), listening to period music, and generally enjoying the sun. Again, another great place to visit, steeped in history. Off to High Wycombe at the weekend to rabbit and goldish-sit for our friends Chris and Helene, as well as planning trips to France and Cyprus while we are back. It's just all go....
