Up at 5am, and off to St Pancras to hunt down the Megabus that would be taking us to York for.... 3 pounds each!! Our first surprise of the day was that the megabus was in fact...a train, well, up as far as East Midlands airport. So we were somewhat bemused when we were told we would be catching the Megabus from Platform 4! Leaving spot on time, and arriving in York 5 minutes early, we cannot understand how such a great service can operate for so little - highly recommended, but don't tell too many friends! Visiting Tracey's family in Esk Valley, we met up with Sir Nigel Gresley, the engine that is, not the man (designer of some of England's finest steam engines), visiting Pickering by steam train, catching up with the family in general, and spent today getting drenched whilst walking to Glaisdale. A very pleasant walk, despite the weather, which seems to be inextricably attached to us as we travel around the country.

Car MoT'd, after some minor work, we joined the M25 car park for 3 hours before eventually reaching the M4 and arriving in Bath to stop at the palacial flat of Mark T, overlooking the town of Bath. A short trip into town for a 'sharpener', preceded an excellent thai curry Chez Thorpe, and a quiet night in with a few DVD films on the big TV. Our trip here included a visit to the Museum of Bath at Work, highly recommended for a stop if you are in town. Housed in an eighteenth century Real Tennis Court, the Museum traces the development of Bath a retailing and manufacturing centre and ,since the seventeenth century, as a tourist and health resort. There are three floors displays for the whole family including the landscape of industrial Bath and exact reconstructions of factories and workshops. Now, onto a National Express Coach and back to .... Bexleyheath, for one evening! Thanks mum!

Having been rained upon intensely in High Wycombe, a return to Bexleyheath for a week of relaxing, then off to France to see Andy, Becka and Ella, and bring my long lost car back from France to England for selling. A short flight from Stansted to Limoges of about 1 hr 15 mins, and we were there - air travel has it's benefits! Alas, it appeared that we also took the bad weather with us and the nexxt 4 days saw thunder, lightening, and very heavy rain, however, that did not stop us from enjoying ourselves in company. Keeping warm in the evening over the BBQ, and sorting out 'life, the universe, and everything' over several fine bottles of red wine until 3am. Ella is growing up rapidly and it was great to get involved with her chatter whilst building models from Play Doh (that's Tracey and I playing with the Play Doh....). Our final day visiting the beach was great fun and time passed all too quickly before jumping in the car, driving 500 miles north to Dunkerque, ferrying to Dover, and returning to Bexleyheath again, just in time for the MoT test the following morning. Get the credit card at the ready...!
