Night Transit to San Diego

26 October 2017 | Transiting to San Diego, CA
George Stonecliffe
More ship contacts were experienced during this night transit from Catalina Island to San Diego than any other part of our trip so far. Wednesday in Catalina Island was relaxed and fun. We toured the Avalon Casino, not only seeing the past use of the movie theater and the Big Band dance floor, that were the rage, but realizing that they still use the movie theater daily, and have twelve big dances a year. Casino means gathering place in Italian. There is no gambling here. Next we had a semi-submarine trip to some of the harbor's underground gardens where the fish were plentiful. The excitement is palpable as we approach San Diego. Lots to do in four days before the Baja Ha-ha Rally starts. We need a diver for zincs. We need to buy our TIP for entering the boat into Mexican waters; a Visa for Peter (our crew); Mexican Liability Insurance; fishing licenses; and propane and fuel. Did I say laundry and provisions?
