The Costa Rica Paperwork Check-in Cha-cha
25 January 2018 | Playas del Coco, Costa Rica

After a four day crossing from Chiapas, Mexico to del Coco, Costa Rica, we rested/napped/slept at anchor to regain our composure. First two days were delightful, but the last two days were pushing our limit. Close hauled into 25 knot winds, and aggressive 6' seas, had us going at 7+ knots with double reefed jib and main sails, constantly for 12 hour plus nights of hard sailing. So we arrived!
In Costa Rica every time we touch land, we have to tell the area Port Captain in person. Not just checking into the country, and out. So it tends to restrict movement. It was about five hours, including Port Captain, walk ten minutes to Immigration, back to the Port Captain, taxi to the Liberia Airport a half-hour away, and back to the Port Captain...cha-cha-cha! Tomorrow we go to a marina about 30 minutes away.
Oh we got a new Sim Card for our iPhone for one of the Costa Rica phone companies. So communications is back in business!
