My C-25 was in a movie!

26 August 2007 | In a major film
Over the weekend I saw the movie "Failure to Launch". Well, in one of the scenes the main character Tripp played by Matthew McConaughey is a yacht broker walking around the boat yard showing his clients some boats. They walk by one sailboat that looks quite familiar and end up filming right in front of it. Isn't that a C-25, hmmm navy blue with gold pin stripe? Worn red bottom paint? That sail cover looks similar to mine. The tangled topping lift and blue mainsheet... is this a coincidence? I think those registration numbers look like mine. I paused the movie and checked my photos, this seems unbelievable. Sure enough, that is my Catalina 25!! Wow, it sure was cool to be watching a movie and see them filming right in front of my boat! Here are two screen shots I took:
P1010437

P1010436

I then looked up on IMDB and found they filmed most of the movie in Oxford and Annapolis, MD. My C-25 was originally from Oxford, MD. I then did a search and found this link to the Oxford Boatyard and they mention the movie being filmed at their marina.

Overall a good movie and there are a lot of nice sailboats and a couple sailing scenes including the final scene that looked like they are sailing by Bloody Point Lighthouse!

Extra: This site is all about my experiences with my first boat; from restoring it, to my sailing adventures. I enjoy hearing from my readers, so feel free to send me an email. I'm also interested in meeting new people in the area, especially people in my age range since I hardly know any that sail.
