Dinghy Skeg

Sun Doggie

D4 Dinghy Alternative Seats
The rain event was more wind than rain, strong winds with gusts up to 44 mph. We drove into town to see what the harbor was like. There was a small sailboat that had dragged anchor and was sitting close to shore. The tide was out. We left and played with Bleu at Notter’s Pond.

D4 Inside Seams
Day two of the dinghy build started out with me finishing wiring the hull bottoms together on the centerline of the bottom panels. This was much easier than the wiring of the chine edges of the bottom panels and the side panels.

The plan for today is to do what I wanted to do yesterday that the rain interrupted. I had to fill two 5 gallon gas jugs. Also I had to go throughout the boat and make sure there were no items that could be tossed down from any of the shelves or counters.

When all is secure, I plan to get underway mid-afternoon to ride the ebb tide out into Bogue Sound and head out for Frying Pan Shoal again. This time I will be trying to avoid any gale force winds. I should get there Saturday morning, then bear off down the coast, taking advantage of the North winds that are predicted. There is no cell phone service out there, so no contact. The SPOT device will be active and I plan to update position manually at maybe hourly intervals to avoid the problem of SPOT's 10 minute automatic tracking update interval, which ends up with only the last 50 positions displayed, i.e., less than 9 hours of tracking.
