Dinghy Skeg

D4 Dinghy Alternative Seats
The rain event was more wind than rain, strong winds with gusts up to 44 mph. We drove into town to see what the harbor was like. There was a small sailboat that had dragged anchor and was sitting close to shore. The tide was out. We left and played with Bleu at Notter’s Pond.

D4 Inside Seams
Day two of the dinghy build started out with me finishing wiring the hull bottoms together on the centerline of the bottom panels. This was much easier than the wiring of the chine edges of the bottom panels and the side panels.
Panorama Problems

If anything moves in the area shared by the stitched images, then it will appear in the panorama as many times as it appears in the individual images. So, if you snap two images with a car or person traveling across the field of view, it will be captured in both images in different positions compared to the background. Then in the panorama it will appear twice.

The geometry of individual images is always distorted somewhat by the lens and when images are stitched together, the images won’t match right at their border. The panorama function tries to shmoosh the borders by fading them toward the edge, so that the two border areas will combine to form a smooth transition. If there are still some parts of the images at the border that don’t match, then they stand out. Perhaps they can be airbrushed out.

The panorama above has several problems. One obvious problem is the phantom volcanic crater at the top of the mountain. This was caused by lens distortions at the edges of the three images stitched together to form the mountain. Also we can see a little short bus that is an effect of the cropping/stitching process. People in the foreground have clones or have Picasso features due to facing in one direction in one image and another in a second image.
