A NEW ADVENTURE

Ken and I have enjoyed our adventures on our sailboat for the last 5 years and have sailed as far south as we are going to go. Now, we have decided to try a new adventure, have sold our boat and purchased a 'new to us', Tahoe and a 29' travel trailer. We have ventured to Lumberton, NC where we will stay for a month or two, taking care of previously made dentist/doctor visits. We are in a small, quiet campground (or I guess they are called RV parks now) and have started figuring out how things work and finding places for everything. Ken has already put in some shelves to give us more room. If I decide to start an 'RV Blog', I'll let you know. Now, I can really say 'On the road again'!! I am also on Facebook.

WHOOPIE PIES!

After visiting my Mom, we traveled to Maine to visit with friends. While there, we tried Cape Whoopies, Whoopie Pies, made by a fellow sailor! They come in many flavors and varieties and are just delicious! Check out Marcia's web site at http://capewhoopies.com/ and order some for yourself. Tell Marcia, Irene sent you! Here is a picture of our friend Paul enjoying his Cape Whoopies, Whoopie Pie!

BEAUTIFUL!

Irene/75 Sunny Great!
We went to see the Cherry Blossoms yesterday. They are just as spectacular as everyone says. . . .
We drove to one of the Metro stations outside Washington and had to figure out how to use the 'machines' where you buy your tickets - no cash is used in the system. A very nice young man helped us buy our tickets and told us the route we needed. The Metro is neat and clean and once you understand the system, it is not too hard to move around. Plus everyone is eager to help - just have to ask.
While checking out the blossoms, we decided to look at the Memorials along the way, since I have never been to DC. We checked out the Lincoln Memorial and, of course, you can see the Washington Monument but were unable to go up it since it was damaged during the earthquake last year. The Mall was also empty of water and being worked on since that was damaged, also.
I have to admit I couldn't believe how long the 'Vietnam Wall' was. It gave you an eerie feeling looking at all those names and knowing what they stood for.
We also checked out the WWII and Korean Memorials and the Martin Luther King Memorial.
I'm going to include pictures of all under the album name of Washington with individual folders for each Memorial. (Hopefully, by tomorrow.)
We are now going to plan a trip back to go to the Smithsonian.
