We left Vero Beach yesterday at 10:30 AM, following topping off fuel and water supplies at their service dock. Two hours later we were securely hooked, watching dolphins frolic in the anchorage, just south of the Fort Pierce North Bridge.
We then took the dinghy to nearby Riverside Marina where we bought another dinghy. Kevin saw the for sale ad when we arrived at Vero Beach, and had been in contact by phone with the seller. After checking it out and agreeing on a price, we traded cash for a bill of sale and a slightly larger, rigid bottom, inflatable dinghy, pictured above.
Upon returning to Grace, we spent the next few hours transferring all of our stuff from one to the other, preparing the new (to us) dinghy for hoisting on the davits, deflating and stowing "corky".
This morning we took our first ride in the new (to us) dinghy to another nearby marina, walked to the West Marine store at the top of the hill, returned to the marina restaurant for lunch, then departed the anchorage at 12:30 PM. By 3:00 this afternoon we were enjoying the warm sunny 70s at anchor, just south of the Jensen Beach Causeway bridge. There were fun sailboats to watch for the next few hours...likely from the nearby sailing club.
