Green Turtle Manjack and Crab Cays

Debbie
Throughout the week we got to spend with Debbie's Mom and Alan on Green Turtle Cay, we toured the museum and bronze sculpture memorial garden in New Plymouth Settlement, walked beaches, and dined at nearly all of the the island's restaurants. Ken, Francie, and Skipper of s/v Release joined us on the patio at the cottage one evening for sundowners before we all ventured to the other side of the sound for a bite to eat and live local entertainment. We got to view stars, rainbows and sunset colors together, plus play numerous games of cards. Pictured above is the snail shell collection we gathered and displayed for others to enjoy on the first day that we walked the Atlantic Ocean side beach together. Thank you to Debbie's Mom and Alan for providing the picture, coming to spend time with us, and renting a cottage with a dock and freezer, allowing us to build up a fantastic supply of ice jugs which are still giving Grace's ice box a terrific boost in these tropical wintertime temps! Throughout the week Kevin tossed overboard a live crab stowaway that he found inside Grace's cabin, topped off water supplies, and got gasoline by jerry jug.
Nearly four hours after high tide, on Sunday, January 10th, Grace had enough water below her keel to exit Black Sound without incident. We motored less than an hour to anchor at Manjack and Crab Cays, where we got to see turtles surfacing nearby as Grace bounced around until the weather front passed, bringing with it some light sprinkles, followed by a pretty sunset.
On Monday we got to spend time with Ken, Francie, and Skipper as we all explored the nearby beach and shoreline, bringing back a shell treasure, and then enjoyed the sunset together onboard s/v Release.
