Sal had all of the fun on her watch. The wind died and it rained (very briefly). Shortly after Tane started his watch (just before 3am), the wind rose again and we've been sailing ever since. It's now 4:30pm. Our speed has varied from 2.5 knots to over 6. We covered 126 nm in the last 24 hours.

Mid-morning we were all below having breakfast when I heard a noise that I thought was the fan in Tane's cabin. I turned it off, then heard the sound of a diesel engine. A large tuna boat, complete with helicopter, was passing close behind us. We hadn't been below very long --- an interesting lesson. The radar is off most of the day as we're conserving power, so we haven't set a radar alarm.

We've just caught our first fish, a small dorado (mahi mahi), so it's sashimi for dinner.

Today has been fine and clear all day, with winds 5-10 knots from the southeast. We've been chasing a line of clouds and squalls in the distance ahead, but they seem to be getting further away. No doubt all the fun will be at night.
