Been a while since we posted. By the end of the day were to tired to do anything but eat and rest. As of today we have accoplished a lot. We sanded both sides and the transom. That took about 8 days. We then applied two coats of primer, filled all the dings and dents and then sanded both sides. (another 6 days).
Today Diana is washing the boat in preperation for painting. The primer has a lot of talc in the paint and after sanding it is a bugger to get off. Never fear however, the Admiral is on the Job........We also had to pull the six port hole liners from the aft cabin and refinish them. That is keeping Ken busy. Should be done with them tomorrow. Also tomorrow we will start painting, doing the upper boards above the rub rail on both sides. Following day the second coat. After than the remainder of the port and starboard side will take at least 4 more days. We will also slip in the varnishing of the transom during that time.
On the Hull: We have a old-time boat guy from New England here and he is doing some work on the bottom to try to stop the keel leaks. He has some original ideas and there is a good chance they will work, based on his years of experience on wood boats. He also replaced two more Butt Blocks (that is enough Dick) that were not bad yet but well on there way.
The bottom has been sanded and the yard crew will paint later in the week when the hull repairs are finished.
Our oriiginal two week estimate ended yesterday. I think we have at least 7-10 days more, based on how the weather cooperates.
The picture shows the hull primed and ready to paint.
