Late Again

03 May 2017 | Midway Marina, Coinjock, NC
75F and Windy as Hell
Well we are late again in posting. After leaving Camp LeJeune we anchored in Ceadar Creek and the following morning we crossed the Neuse River (nice crossing) with the intent to anchor in Styron Creek neare the Pungo Canal. The weather forecast was for high winds the next couple of days so we moved on thru the canal and anchored just off the old logging camp at the south end of the Alligator River.

Turned out to be a good move and we stayed two days with winds in excess of 40 MPH. On Tuesday we went north on the Alligator River (forecast was for 1 Ft, actual 2-3 Ft) to th Alligator RIver Marina where we re-fueled and spent the night.

This morning we left with a forecast of 1 Ft on the Albermerle Sound. Actual 2-3 Ft on the beam, really uncomfortable. Decided to act like a sail boat and we tacked several times to reduce the effects of the waves. Took an extra hour for the trip but the Admiral was a lot happier.

We are at the Midway Marina in Coinjock, NC and will be in Norfolk Virginia tomorrow. The weather forecast for the Cheseapake Bay is not good for the next few days so we could be in Norfolk for a while.

Will try to do a better job keeping you posted.
