Ao Chalong

Ao Chalong is a year long anchorage at the southern end of Phuket. As there were no marina berths to had here on Phutket, we anchored in a large bay just off the jetty. Hundreds of power boats, long boats, charter boats etc are here, most of the day trips to the surrounding islands leave from Ao Chalong. We had to check in here, the usual performance, immigration, customs and harbourmaster. Many of the boats from the Rally were here on Phuket, the lucky ones in the marinas and the unlucky ones like us either here or over at Patong Beach. We were only staying for a couple of nights. On the morning we left to move, the winds came up, and the bay became quite rolly, it was much more protected around on the western side. While in Ao Chalong Bay we checked out Phuket Town with Liz and Steve off Liberte. Liz and I both had haircuts and I treated myself to a foot massage and pedicure. And I even managed to find somewhere that did eyebrow waxing, it has been a mission since Indonesia to find someone.
