Exploring
28 December 2012 | Koh Phanak, Northwest Bay
Juanita
We got away from Patong Beach at around &.00am, Fearless about half an hour in front of us. It was a little breezy so we put the sail up. As the morning progressed the wind picked up to about 20 knots. Norma from Fearless called us up and said they were going into Nai Harn Bay for shelter. We continued on and it was a little uncomfortable, but the wind dropped after a couple of hours. We arrived at Koh Phanak late afternoon, a little too late to explore the many passages, caves and lagoons. We sat on the back of Keris and watched where the tourists entered.
In the morning we towed the kayak over to the cave entrance, Fred and I got on and paddle over and into the cave. Inside, there was an amazing network of passages leading into small caves and lagoons, absolutely amazing. At times it was pitch black, our torches were fading fast and Fred was getting antsy. Mike did not go in, so it was back to Keris for breakfast and then anchors away and onto Koh Hong for lunch.
