Phi Phi Don

The Phi Phi group of islands is one of the loviest island groups in Thailand. It is famous for the spectacular vertical cliffs rising from the clear blue ocean. beautiful lagoons enclosed by rock walls, great swimming, snorkelling etc. Each year hundreds of thousands of tourists flock here on day trips and holidaying on the island in recent years. I thought it was a little like the Gilis in Indonesia, mostly backpackers and young travellers.
Phi Phi Don is shaped like 2 earlobes with a very narrow stretch of sand joining the two lobes together, probably no more than 400metres wide. Phi Phi Don is said to be one of the three most beautiful islands in the world.....
We arrived in the dark having navigated through a few shallow parts to enter the bay of Ton Sai Bay. We had dinner ashore at a restaurant on the beach overlooking Ao Lohdalum Bay, a stroll through the resort and shopping area and then back to Keris at the bewitching hour. As we were wanting to get back to Patong Beach for New Year, we did not stay the next day to explore. We will probably go back there on our return to Langkawi late in January 2013.
