Friday Night on the Pacific Ocean
30 April 2010 | 300 miles north east of the Galapagos
Yahoo! The wind has picked up and we are clipping along between 5 and 6.5 knots. (Not that I'm in a hurry). It is a bit rolly. A south easterly swell is meeting up with the waves of a wind-driven southerly. Michael calculated today that we are about 300 miles north east of the Galapagos and should be arriving in a few days. I'm not ready to make land fall yet. I enjoy being on the ocean. There are few other boats to worry about, unlike any anchorage we've been in. There is no anchoring to deal with. The biggest concern out here is the possibility of meeting another boat. In the 8 days we've been traveling, I've seen one freighter and 3 small boats. The kids have been working really hard to get lots of their school work done. They know that this will allow them more free time when we get to the Galapagos. Zoe was busy baking today. She whipped up some blueberry muffins and and a chocolate cake from scratch. Lunch was Mac and Cheese, with a carrot salad made by Liam. Maia got dinner together for us this evening which was left over M & C, with canned salmon and canned corn on the side. Of course, chocolate cake for dessert! Other than that, not too much new. A little laundry done by hand and the usual around the boat chores. Hope to get the 'boys' fishing tomorrow. A nice 7 pounder would make a welcome centre piece on our dinner table! Until the next update......
