Mike and Sue’s Visit
On the 27th of December, we were aboard Gromit, when we got a phone call from David. He told us that he, Peggy and their 4 kids plus a friend, were going to take their catamaran, Rhythm out for a few day’s sail and would we like to use their rented house?
Would we? Hmmmm, air-conditioning, a pool, WIFI and a huge flat screen with over 100 channels, hmmmmm again, should we????
A few hours later, we were settled into a place that we could easily call hugely spacious and close to luxurious. Living on a boat sure makes one appreciate things like space, easy internet access and TV with too many channels. Don’t get me wrong, we are not suffering by living on Gromit, we have so much to be thankful for and feel we are incredibly fortunate, but sometimes it’s so nice to have a change of pace and spend some time spreading out and just hanging out.
The next day, we finally managed to get our schedules in sync to finally meet with our friends Mike and Sue, from s/v Infini, who we hadn’t seen since New Zealand, in May of last year. We met them way-back-when in Suwarrow, where they had us over for dinner and taught us the game of ‘Farkle’ (a game played with 5 dice). They had a rented car here, so we told them where to find us. We spent a fabulous afternoon talking about many months of adventures and playing a hilarious game of Farkle; hilarious, because poor Mike got severely trounced!!!!’ Maia won!
Dress-up’ was also on the agenda when Maia found a bag of wigs. Who couldn’t resist that!
We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon spent with Mike and Sue, a couple so full of ‘joie de vivre’ and fun!
