Phitak Shipyard
12 April 2013 | Chebilang, Thailand
Day 2 : April 12, 2013
We did lots of organizing and setting up today:
*The ladder up the side of the boat was very dirty, so it was one of Liam's jobs to wash it down.
*We had our three folding bicycles in the main cabin, so we lowered them down to the ground on a halyard.
*We dug out our hoses so that we could hook into the water system - which has been intermittent due to construction nearby. We've heard that they turn it off and on as they work, but it has been off more than on.
*Maia and I made 'breakfast mixes', which are packets of the dry ingredients in muffins, pancakes and scones, so that when we get up, we simply add the wet ingredients and then bake.
*Hull scraping, lots of hull scraping!!!
*Michael took the propeller off and is taking the propeller shaft out.
*Maia and I made up meal prep schedules and boat job lists. Liam was on for making lunch and made delicious chicken teriyaki and miso soup. Maia made cheese noodles with bacon and broccoli for dinner. Yum, yum!
Lots of other little jobs were completed and some school work, too!
Tomorrow:
*school work in the morning
*measuring and marking the hull for the new, raised waterline. Looking at the picture of Gromit, it is obvious that the present blue boot stripe, which does not have anti-fouling properties, has been sitting in the water (it should be just above the water). It got scratched and it peeled when we scraped off the barnacles and marine growth.
*propeller cleaning
*scraping barnacles off of the dinghy and stowing it folded on deck
*more hull scraping
*Michael will continue with the prop shaft
