It is June already!
24 June 2008 | Gromit Central ( our driveway)
Cornelia 14 degrees, lots of rain lately, damp
I know, I've been very negligent about keeping this blog up to date. I do, however have a valid excuse: I'M SO BUSY!
Where are things at?
*Tomorrow is my last day of school. This is a good thing, but it is also stressing me, because I'm still collecting materials for when I become 'Mom-teacher-aboard''. I keep trying to tell myself that I have enough materials, but then I don't really know how much 'enough' is. So, I continue to collect. I hope I don't sink the boat!
*Boat lettering is still in progress. It has been going on for some time. We've decided on the font and size of the lettering. We also want to include a picture of Gromit and that is where we are having difficulties. Hopfully within the next week, we(Michael and I), can decide on a picture of Gromit that will suit.
*We will be renting our house. The property manager has posted it on his website. A couple of nibbles but no one has come to look.
*All Canadian passports, birth and marriage certificates are in so that we can now proceed with the kids' German passports. We have an appointment in July.
*Michael and I went for our Dentistry 101 crash course. Gerry our very knowledgeable and kind dentist spent an hour going over some basic basics on emergency-until-you-get-to-the-next-port proceedures. Thank you, Gerry!
*Our friend Mike R. has been here for the whole month of June helping immensely. The first two weeks, he spent, full time on the hull. It is now ready for its next and final coat of sealant. What a huge job: filling and sanding, filling and sanding, filling and sanding. Now he is working on the refridgeration system.
*Our friend, Matthew D. has also made huge contributions towards that 'light at the end of the tunnel'. He has worked on the hydrolic steering, the windvane and is presently building a propane locker in our aft lazarette.
Where would we be without the help of these guys?
Not only have they moved things forward, but they have also kept our spirits up and kept Michael sane when it seemed like nothing was going as planned.
*Around the house, things have been progressing in bits and pieces. The basement is looking emptier as I carry out bag after bag and box after box. What a great feeling to not only purge so much 'stuff', but also to donate it to hopefully be reused.
*Last weekend, I finally tackled the playroom. What a relief to have gotten started on a job that I had been avoiding for months. The toys that are coming with us have been packed away in baggies and then into duffle bags. They are mostly open-ended toys like Lego, Tinker Toy, Ello and various other building and creating things.
So, there's an update. I'm hoping to be more regular with my entries. Of course, it depends on how BUSY I am!!!
