BIG NEWS!
The engine is back in the boat as of Thursday, July 3! It was lifted by a HIAB crane from the local Home Hardware. The operator did it all by remote conrol. Once the engine was suspended above the boat, he climbed up and lowered it inch by inch using his remote control pendent. It went in smoothly and without a single hitch. And I've just been informed this very minute, that it is aligned - round one, (once it goes into the water it will have to be realigned). Michael has spent endless hours on his stomach across the engine, head down towards the propeller shaft. It has to be properly aligned to avoid undue stresses and vibrations.
* Our bookshelf/main table also went up via crane on Thursday, and is ready to be bolted to the wall.
* Mike R., continues to work on the fridge. Compressor and cooling plates are in place and it is cooling at its expected -8 dregees. Now he is working on putting in a wall, so we will have freezer and fridge compartments. The cold air from the freezer will spill over this wall and keep the fridge side cool.
* I've removed the old vinyl from the aft cabin walls. I've been to two fabric shops looking for white vinyl to cover over the exposed bare fibreglass. No luck with finding white. I might opt for a nice green which both stores seem to have lots of.
* I pretty well have all my teaching stuff together. I've taken the bins to the basement and placed them on the "sailing shelves".
*John, in Peterborough, completely overhauled our windlass. Not only is it in perfect working condition, but it also looks great with its new paint. After looking at reinstalling it, Michael and Mike feel that is will require more work than expected, because they want to install it differently.
* Around the house, I pressure washed the decks in preparation for sealing them.
There's more, but that's for the next post!!!!
