Good overnight to Valdivia
12 May 2012 | Chiloe to Isla Mancena

The picture above is one of the pelicans that amuse us during the trip. We never seen so many and we were amazed how close to the water than can glide.
We left Chiloe on a Friday with the intention to stop at the north of the Island before heading to Valdivia. We got close to the Channel Chacao that have lots of current, we were very close to the time to get the tide going out so we decided to keep going until Valdivia. The forecast was light winds and in this area light winds is what we wanted. We have been using the engine almost every day so if we needed to use for another day it was not a problem, especially when we have more than 120 miles to Valdivia. We did our shift as we were used to. When I got my turn at night Werner said, there are no boats around. I’m the lucky one, I got five of them but with the engine on I use the radar more often and it’s easier to see what the other boats are doing during the night.
We finish using the engine almost all the time but we had sun and it was very pleasant. We arrived on the Saturday evening close to Valdivia but we decided to go up the river the next day. We anchor at Isla Mancena for the night.
