Dominica - Back in Paradise!
23 March 2012
The next day we left at 4:00 am and sailed from Martinique to Portsmouth, Dominica. When we were sailing on the leeward side of Dominica there was no wind so we turned on the iron sails. Marc decided to lay down for a rest. I was watching the horizon, it was so calm the water was like glass similar to what you would see in a lake back home. Then out of the water I spotted a whale on the port side of the boat. I called Marc, but the whale did not surface again, he was heading in the opposite direction, so we did not get another look at him. After nine hours we were back in our favorite spot, almost anchored in the exact location as our last visit. Once again we met some amazing people and ran into some old friends from Montreal. We met Sid from New Zealand who was sailing single handed and Virginia from France who was sailing single handed as well. It amazes me when people venture off on their own on the open water. We spent our days swimming, visiting with new friends enjoying rum punch and hummus. Sid is a chef and treated us to an amazing dinner one night aboard his boat - Thanks Sid!! It is wonderful going back to places that we have already visited, it just feels like home.
