On Our Way

Big Red is running well, although with a bit more noise than we expected. We're still sorting things out with it and as is true with all new things, there is a learning curve and we're on it. But all in all, we're pleased. The new radar also takes some getting used to but in time we think we're really going to love it. However, it is recording the water temperature as 104 degrees and we have a sneaky feeling that's not entirely accurate. It is a fancy piece of equipment and the manual is enormous (online or through the monitor).
We stopped at Jewell Island the first night out of Yarmouth--always a favorite place for us. The second night was at Isle of Shoals on the NH/ME border and it never disappoints us during quick stopovers. This is the first time we wandered on this particular island (there are several in this anchorage and we've explored other ones but never here) and although dogs are not allowed, the staff said we could bring Luna ashore since they were officially closed for the season. Our outboard didn't start properly and was leaking gas so the Captain rowed us ashore. He'll have a look at that when we're in Scituate, MA.
