Engine Update

The photos is of my sister and Luna from our walk the other day. As an update, we continue to adjust fittings on Big Red as it gets broken in. When you have a new engine, you want it to be perfect right our of the gate but that's not entirely realistic. Things have to heat up, expand, contract, and do what they do until everything is all settled in. The fuel efficiency on the way down from Maine was much improved and the anxiety we used to feel with the Westerbeke was gone, thankfully. It's a little shocking running up the RPM's far higher than we ever would have dared do on the old engine. We were always afraid of something going wrong with it. We'll give you another update after today's run up to the Cape Cod Canal and through it. We'll spend a night on the hook once we get through the canal and then continue down toward Newport to see friends there. While we were in Scituate Ed worked on the outboard and replaced a worn-out diaphragm in the carburetor. It's running like a charm now. We like simple fixes.
Meanwhile, we have said our goodbyes to family in Scituate after a great visit. We were sent off last night with homemade cookies from Aunt Nancy and well wishes from my sister and cousin. It's always hard saying goodbye.
