Yellow Restaurant

We ate lunch here last week after a major laundry run, having a traditional Caribbean meal with chicken or pork, rice, beans, plantains and a salad. The round table tops (not seen in this photo) were so high we could barely reach our utensils from the low stools and that made us laugh with every bite. The laundromat is a fair walk from the docks but is clean and large, air conditioned (a rarity) with snacks for sale. The television set there was playing Spanish soap operas which grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go. I understood none of it but was fascinated by all that drama. It was an expensive laundry run, however, more than anywhere we've been other than on Marigot in St. Lucia. We paid $9/large washers and $7 for regular size. Same prices for the large and regular driers. We are used to paying half as much for washers, although if the driers aren't hot, we might end up paying $8/load. We typically bring our damp clothes back to the boat for air drying but with towels, of which we had many, we prefer to machine dry them. It was a half day long project by the time we loaded up our enormous dry pack, walked back and forth 10-15 minutes each way and waited for everything to be finished. Having lunch out was a fair reward for all that schlepping around. With the Sahara dust, our towels won't remain clean for long. We keep beach towels and Luna's towels on deck and everything is covered with a thick brown layer of this stuff. It is everywhere.
