This area was packed with locals buying from 4 different vendors, two selling various empanadas and other pastry-type things and two selling fresh fruit drinks. It was 10 in the morning and we weren't hungry so we didn't try the empanadas (another day) but were intrigued by the fruit drinks. One was white which we assumed was coconut, the other deep red which and that's what we ordered for .60 cents. It wasn't too sweet, in fact we don't think it had any sugar syrup added at all but was filled with a variety of diced fruits and was refreshingly tasty. People were getting refills, buying from all the vendors and hanging around drinking, eating and meeting old friends. No one spoke English and we were the only gringos which is often as refreshing as the fruit drink was.
