Bags, Bags and More Bags

These bags, called Mochilas are an integral part of Colombia. There are two varieties, the colorful ones woven with fibers and made by the Wayuu tribes (shown here) and the traditional ones with black, grey, brown and cream colors made with wool by the Archuacas tribes. We had to have one, naturally and were torn between the two varieties. Ed really wanted a traditional wool one so that's what we went with. The Colombians are seen wearing them crossed over their bodies, both males and females and it's hard choosing which one to buy. We kept looking until one jumped out at us, saying "Pick me!". This particular bag must have really wanted a new home because as it turned out it was speaking to our friends Jamie and Keith (s/v Kookaburra) at the same time we were asking the shopkeeper to get a hook to retrieve it for us. We ended up with it (though we offered it to them and hoped they'd say no) and they settled on a smaller one, just as beautiful.
