Key West!

23 April 2016 | Florida Key West
Elizabeth
There are a lot of derelict boats here in Key West, as evidenced by this one in the mooring field we're currently in. Shortly after arriving we had to go to the Immigration office at the airport unexpectedly because Ed's passport had expired since applying and interviewing for the US Local Boater's Option. That option allows us to check back into the country with a quick phone call. Who knew they would need to see an updated passport which we renewed two years ago when we were last in the US with Skylark? We thought about skipping it altogether but decided it was easy enough to get a taxi to the airport, get the paperwork updated and be done with it. That's what we did, afterwards rewarding ourselves with a drink and snack at a popular place down by the water.

All in all our passage was uneventful. The first 24 hours were uncomfortable and very rolly but by the next morning the sea was calmer. That continued until we arrived just around noon today. If we leave tomorrow we'll keep our Spot tracker going for anyone interested in following our progress.
