WOW can't believe that it's been since February that I blog last. Been busy working on the boat, one camera died, got it fixed but haven't had a chance so here goes!
Finally got my piece of Corian for a new galley top- can't believe how hard it is to buy!
They don't want to sell it to just anyone, you have to be a "licensed " Corian installer just to buy but did find a source on the internet (of course). Shipping was outrageous! Works almost like wood just have to make sure that the tools and drill bits are carbide. Made a template and routed out the insert where the sink will be- turned out to be pretty easy.
Weekend after, I did the same thing on the left side for a drop in storage bin. Tonight will start sanding it and hope to install this weekend - at least do a dry fit!
Also laid up a lot of layers of fiberglass to over 5/8" for new backing plates for my new thru hulls and seacocks. Going to install them this weekend also.
Got a shipment of beautiful teak in from a local supplier who has a renewable forest in central America. What beautiful wood! making new companions doors, moulding and trim.
And my bowsprite is done being shaped. Actually it already has a coat of penetrating epoxy and 3 coats more of regular epoxy on it and I will be painting it with 2 part Perfection- 4 coats.
Also finished veneering the bulkheads that I replace. Here's an old shot of the pattern on the teak ready to be cut!. I decided that I wanted to restore her to the original specs, plus I love the look of teak.
Thats a brief summary of just a couple of things I've been doing on Kodachrome. Other projects underway are a overhead cabinet in the galley, totally new bathroom, designing and making my own composting head, resurfacing my deck - started on the bow this past weekend with a synthetic teak and replacing 3 of my chain plates.
