Denny cold if your from Panama. Hot if your from Tacoma
We are back in the USA. You can tell when you get close to the US as the radio starts to come alive. For some reason boaters in the US like to talk on the radio. Several times we would hear a boat just say we are standing by. Also the weather station starts to give weather information for the surrounding aria. I know its all about safety but it can get frustrating as were used to peace and quiet coming from the radio.
About 20 miles from Key West Florida the US Coast Guard gave us a call and told us they would be boarding our boat. This is the second time we have sailed into the US from another country. Its also the second time we have been boarded by the Coast Guard. I think the wall is up and doing it's Job.
Speaking of walls! I asked the Coast Guard what all the people on rafts were doing rowing towards Cuba. They said those were Americans. With Castro Dead and Trump as the President elect a lot of people are fleeing for a better life before Cuba builds there own wall. Smile.
Checking into a country can be frustrating as you must go find customs and immigration. they are not waiting for you at the dock. It took 2 hours to check out of Belize as i had to go to 3 different buildings. checking in to the US is no different. you must call a boating number and give all your information to the person on the line then you have 24 hours to report to the office. In Key West we were told the office is at the airport. we rented bikes and spent an hour and a half riding to the airport. on the customs door was a sign that said they were closed and we must go to a different location to check in. I kid you not the address was one block from where we rented the bikes. so we enjoyed a nice ride around the island. Once we got to the office the check in was easy and we were giving passport stamps saying we arrived. Its good to be back in the US with the boat. With the 6 to 8 dollar beer prices it also feels like Key West.
