The owner of the boat show, Paul, along with several other sponsors, put together a fundraiser for hurricane relief. It was very spontaneous, called "Hands Across the Transom". It was the night the sailboat show started (last Thursday).
There were several tables of people looking for donations from Puerto Rico and BVI's, just to name a couple. It cost $75/person to attend, then in addition if you wanted to give to a specific group. We chose Puerto Rico. There was appetizers & cocktails flowing all night, along with a live band that we danced the night away! There also was a presentation and video of the prime minister of Puerto Rico thanking the Annapolis Boat Show for their efforts in putting this fundraiser together. Then a live auction. When we left, the amount raised in just a few hours was over $82,000, wow!
In addition, the boat show pledged $5,000 as a challenge to all to match or exceed. Many companies exceeded!
We are very proud to be part of this great group of people and enjoying working the boat show!
Life is good on Kokomo!
