Marina Palmira

24 January 2011 | Topolobampo
Denny/Clear 78 degrees
Marina Palmira in La Paz is a favorite cruising destination for many of the boats traveling around the Sea of Cortez. Topolobampo's new marina is own by Marina Palmira and you can see that the goal is to make Topo a regular stop, as boats head north back to San Carlos for the summer. The marina is under construction, but each day you can see progress.

Since we have been here, the pile drivers have been working and adding dock space.

The driveway is being paved with tile and a restaurant/bar is being worked on.

My bet is, in a month this place will be fully functional. The good news for us is they only charge $16 per day to stay here. I wonder if that will go up when they are finished. If you're cruising the Sea, a stop in Topo and a trip to Copper Canyon should be added to your plans. If your at home wondering where to take your next Eco friendly adventure, Copper Canyon is a good choice. It's somewhat unknown, but gearing up to be a hot spot.

We have been here a week and it's now time to move on. In a few hours we will leave for Mazatlan. This trip is 205 nautical miles from here and will take two nights at sea. There is a place to stop along the way, but it's undecided if we will stop there or not. Each day is an adventure and the Seattle Boat Show ads are right, "life is better on a boat"!
