San Salvador

Denny/Hot, No rain in 6 months!
A group of 8 of us rented a van and driver for the day and went to San Salvador. We were picked up at 8:30 am. Each couple had an agenda item they wanted to take care of. Ours was to get Sunbrella fabric to make a sun or rain cover for the boat. The weather dictates if it's for the sun or the rain. We also wanted to go to the bank as we had no El Salvador money, which is the US dollar. That makes the exchange rate easy to figure out. We also went to a machine shop for someone and to the Apple computer store.
The Apple computer store turned out to be a highlight. (see photo above). While driving around we passed a place we were all sure was an embassy. Our driver said it was a house for a rich guy. A half hour later after stopped and asked directions. We learned that the big house with the gate and guard was in fact the Apple computer service and distributor location. All I could think was "no wonder those things cost so much"!
After everyone took care of their own needs we went to the store to get groceries. Then it was time to go home. Becky had been looking for a role of velcro with a tape back, and was disappointed we never found it. Our driver then told us about a stop he would like to make for us to a friend that distributes hard alcohol and wine. We went to this house in a middle class neighborhood and entered a garage like warehouse. We were shown several bottles of alcohol. Becky and I bought a couple bottles of rum and scotch whisky. While there, Becky saw a box with the velcro she was looking for. Turns out the guy distributes velcro also. He threw the velcro in for free with our booze order.. When we returned to Bahia Del Sol at 6 pm that night we were charged $90 for the day or $22.50 per couple. I think we saved that much on our rum order.
Yes life is still good on Kokomo!
