The above photo is what the local women look like.
We walked to a café for a latte. Oh was it delicious! I made friends with the guys that worked there. They were having so much fun doing their job. We will have to visit this coffee shop again!
They have many phone booths here. You see them in use all the time!
This is not a tourist town. We don't see people begging for money or trying to get us to buy their product or go into their restaurant.
We saw the cathedral. See video below.
Becky
Dia Quatro (day four)
Today Becky and I went exploring the parkay Central, we had been there before but wanted to go back on our own pace. This area of town has great history. To get there we walked about 1-1/2 miles down a slight grade on uneven cobblestone roads. The roads are narrow and the cars have the right of way. This leaves a wanderer like me in great jeopardy as I tend to walk off the side walk and into the street. Becky worries. The drivers honk their horns at me. I'm pretty sure one lady called me bad words, but I haven't learned any of those yet so no harm. Once we made it to the center of town, we visited a coffee shop and had a latte.. Great coffee is grown in Guatemala so it was no surprise that the coffee was as good as we have ever had. Only gourmet beans are grown at this altitude (7400 ft) and you can taste the difference. Starbucks buys beans grown between 1400 and 4500 feet. Oh the things we learn. A great cathedral is part of the parkey Central check out the video as it is quit impressive. We also stumbled across a group of men practicing their music (see video below), and went to two theaters. Then the walk back home, a slight grade up hill. Were glad to be walking but living on a boat we have lost our legs. Hopefully will get them back soon.
After ten years of planning a trip around the world, we have given up our life on land to head to bluer pastures with the hopes of staying young as long as possible. Our mission is to have fun while moving about the earth. [...]When we finally return to dry land for good, we hope to have seen most of the worlds shore line and experienced things that can only be experienced at 5 knots Of course if we find a place we like and stay there for an extended time, that's ok too.
We have two boys and two grandson's and several friends and family of all ages. Our hope is that those we know will decide to spend some time with us. Life is enjoyed most when you share it with those your closest to.
