We’re getting ready to leave El Salvador. Since the end of April, we haven’t started the motor. It started just fine, but the alternator isn’t working. Denny did all he could to fix it. He took it apart and was told where to take it into town to get it rebuilt. While he was waiting for the alternator, he got his hair cut along with a shave for $1.50. Such the thrifty spender! It looks like the alternator needed to be kept overnight, so he came back to the boat. On the bus ride home, he had a window seat and a women about his age sat next to him. He spoke to her in his best Spanish and found out she lived near the boat and worked in town. She was very nice as the bus filled up, people standing next to her, she would take their backpack or child from them and put it on her lap. She even took a live chicken! While Denny was in town, I made six dinners as we will be having a few overnights right from the start.
Denny is back on the bus this morning hoping to pick up a rebuilt alternator. If all goes well, we will be leaving on Saturday for Panama. We will have 60 days to get there as we have friends flying in to help us through the canal the first part of September.
