Today I did what I do best, nothing. Well I did nothing. Becky cleaned the boat. We are anchored about 400 yards from shore in 30 feet of water, but about 100 feet from us the water becomes 10 to 15 feet deep. I swam from the boat and found the shallow water was corral and sand. The fish swimming there were amazing. It was like being in an aquarium full of fish just the fish were big. I also practiced my 10 foot free dive. Fish just look at me and asked if I'll make them dinner. I'm sure spear fishing would be easy. This is our 6th day on the Island of Coiba, It's a Panamanian Marine Park that cost $20 per day to visit. We are told that a park ranger will come to the boat to collect the fee. So far we have seen no park rangers. I wonder who we should send the check to? Very few people visit the park because the other islands around here are just as nice and they are free. In Panama a person can't own the beach. There is a property set bock so all the beach is public and looks pristine, same with Costa Rica. I wonder where we went wrong in the USA.
Last week we met a couple anchored in a bay we were in. One of the first things they said was, Have you heard the stock market is in a downspin like no other? We have not checked the news in 10 months. And when the night was over I thought back to what he said and decided it's really nice not to know. The term Care Free is more than just a term, it's healthy. I haven't felt this much at peace in years!
Life is good on Kokomo, thanks to a fellow cruiser, I now know we have less money, but life is good.
