I messed up on the video link with the post "Panama Canal Transit", it is fixed now - Becky
As a rule we try to stay out of marinas. It has been over 100 days since we stayed in one. We enjoy being on the hook, swimming in clear water and walking beaches. After going threw the canal we found ourselves in the Shelter Bay Marina for a day or two, so we thought. Marinas are cruiser traps and this one takes the cake. Big wide docks without storm surge, a clean refreshing cool pool to swim in and a hot tub, a restaurant with great food and happy hour, fuel, marine store and best of all, hot showers you can stand in for 10 minutes while your skin melts away in the strong flow of a rain shower head of hot water. This is one thing you don't get while at anchor. We also spent 5 hours washing Kokomo. Fresh water for boat washing is a rare treat for the anchoring cruiser. So, one day turned into two and two into five. The marina life is a good change of pace every so often, but it's time to get back out to the islands. After all if we wanted to hang around a great dock, we could have stayed at Delin Docks in Tacoma. If only they had a pool and hot tub.......
Kelly was thoughtful enough to buy us a new Panama flag at the marine store. We are set now for another few months. Thanks Kelly!
Life is good on Kokomo!
