mola's again

02 November 2011 | East Lemmon Cays, Kuna YaLa, Panama
Denny/92 degrees, sunny
Yesterday we met Lisa, Lisa is a master mola maker and famous transvestite. Lisa came by the boat and spent 45 minutes showing us the mola's she/he made on the island right next us. Once again we were pulling out the cash. Our Quilter friends back home only wish they could capture a marked like this. Everyone that comes to the Kuna YaLa wants to take a mola or two home with them. Cash is a new thing to the Kuna people, most live on the land fishing and trading for the things they need, if the outside world stayed away they still would be without cash. but Cellphones are here so money is needed. Sense we have been here we have charged three cell phones and a dvd player twice, we have also given water to people rowing by. The Kuna have very limited access to electricity so charging phones is a problem. Justina, the man that washed our boat for $20, is saving his money so he can buy solar panels for his Island. That way they can have a computer and charge there own modern accessories. He also is sending his kids to school to learn English, that was they can communicate with cruisers and make Money. I wonder if he was better off before we all got here. With lobster costing 2 to 4 dollars each fresh and delivered to the boat why am I complaining.
