Yesterday we left Cartagena and sailed 20 miles to Cholon Columbia, this is an almost land locked bay that is home to several wealthy Columbians and a few American e-pats. The bay reminds me of Gig harbor Washington as the entrance is so small it could be easily missed, and is in fact missed by most cruisers sailing this coast. We were given way points to the entrance and told to trust them and a bay would appear before us. Were glad we did. The opening is small and there are several navigational risks. The west side of the cut has an extended sand bar forcing you to hug the east shore. The east shore is home to a in water bar. Several cigarette boats full of young men and woman dancing in bathing suits are a distraction most mariners can't help but watch. At the same time some of these people are swimming in front of the boat. Very distractingJ. Once inside you find a peaceful bay with a hand full of sailboats and a few larger motor yachts. As soon as the anchor was down we made friends with other cruisers and were invited to enjoy sundowners with a few cruisers on a shrimp boat anchored in the bay. I had to drag Becky away as she was having fun talking with other woman. Something she has missed the past few weeks. Today we will explore our new home by dinghy.
