We started out yesterday morning going down the ICW in beautiful sunny weather. Denny timed the first two bridges perfectly, without having to slow down. The third bridge we had to wait some, but when it opened this bridge rotated instead of lifting up. It was interesting to watch. Then in the afternoon, out came the clouds and we had thunder, lightening and then it dumped rain. So much that Denny had to put on his heavy rain coat, and slow the boat down because he couldn’t see! So much for my lovely scenery of the waterway!
We pulled into an anchorage for the night and got a call from a catamaran that we anchored next to (S/V Sangaris), they are a Manta 42. We have some friends Mark & Michelle (S/V Reach) that own the same boat and as it turns out they are friends with them (small world). The guy had some very important information for us. As it turns out, the next bridge will be closed all day starting at 7:30 am due to military drills conducting “live gunnery”. The bridge is about 4 miles away so we all left (4 boats) at 6 am in socked in fog, haven’t seen fog in a long time.
The four boats going threw the rotating bridge at 7 am.
Hope today will be a better weather day and we can enjoy the scenery!
Life is good on Kokomo!
