Meeting up with friends

21 July 2013 | NY
Denny/98 degrees
Last winter when we were in the San Blas we had Bob and Louise spend ten days on Kokomo. We had a lot of fun showing them around the islands.

Yesterday we e-mailed them to let them know we were only a few miles from where they live. They were so excited. Bob asked if they could come in their boat and take us to lunch. We said ok and he started making a plan. It would take him 15 minutes to get to his boat and 25 minutes to cross the sound and find us. He decided he would pick us up at 5 minutes to 1 pm. Soon we saw their boat enter the bay and we were off to enjoy lunch. It was so fun to see an 84 year old kid so happy to see us and wanting to show us his appreciation for the fun time they had when they visited Kokomo. Thanks Bob and Louise, we enjoyed spending time with you both!

After spending the day touring the town we came across something I could relate to - a sand castle. While I could never carve something out of sand you would recognize I can play on the beach for hours at a time so seeing sand in New York made me feel at home.

The Garden. Our boat is a 30 minute ride on a train to Penn Station. I was surprised to see Penn Station was under Madison Square Garden. I was also surprised at what the garden looked like. What a great idea, build a building over the top of a stadium then the space above it is not wasted. If the building was a hotel then people could avoid traffic. Why don't more cities think this way?

Life is good on Kokomo
