Crash!

18 March 2014 | Warderick Wells, Bahamas
Becky/78 degrees, calm (finally!)
We spent 3 nights in Normans Cay due to high winds. We saw many boats come and go. While Denny was working on the head, the ladies went back to the swimming pool hole with our noodles, music & beer. We had a wonderful time - memorable one :)

When we arrived back at the boat later in the afternoon, we noticed a new sailboat anchored next to us. With Denny busy below, he didn't notice and I pointed out to him he seemed a bit close. He spoke to the guy telling him he was right on top of our anchor and asked him to move, well he didn't. The current is pretty hard in this little anchorage, so with the strong wind boats were turned every which way and some were pretty close to one another. We had a nice dinner, played domino's and went to bed. About 11:30 pm - crash! He hit the port bow where Laura & Christine were sleeping. We all jumped up and found that boat Denny asked to move hit us. After that he did move. In the morning, he came over to apologize and to see if we had damage as his stern rail was bent. Fortunately we did not have damage. This was the first time anyone has hit us and I hope it' the last!

We are now anchored in a calm beautiful anchorage which is a park and there is lots of room between boats. We took the dinghy into shore and checked in with the ranger. He told us about a small hike, which we took to the top of the hill. It is stunning with a memorial park bench at the top of a man that passed a year ago. Also, cruisers have carved their name & boat names into driftwood and piled it at the top. It is a very inspiring place you thought of people who have passed.

Life is good on Kokomo!
